Today, we’re announcing the launch of our end-to-end encrypted bot API to make the same secure platform available for developers.
Integrations with external services, and chat bots in particular, have been one of the big hypes of 2016 with thousands of services launched on different messaging platforms. However, developers and organizations that operate with sensitive personal data — banks, medical and governmental institutions, Internet of Things providers and others — have been reluctant to take advantage of this new channel due to privacy concerns.
Wire’s end-to-end encryption means that services built on top of our API stay secure and private. Only the provider of the integrated service can see what users are sending, and vice versa. Our code is open source for anyone to review to ensure full transparency.
Integrations and bots will be supported by all Wire apps — mobile, tablet, desktop, web — and with our SDK deploying a simple “hello bot” takes just 10 minutes.

The API is rolling out in phases and we’re initially working with a handful of developers to launch early test services.
